JLPT Vocabulary Trainer is a Japanese vocabulary learning app for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app uses, how it is stored, and what choices you have.

This app is designed to keep your study data private. We do not sell your personal information, show third-party ads, or use third-party advertising trackers.

Information the App Stores

JLPT Vocabulary Trainer may store the following information on your device:

  • Your selected JLPT level
  • Your study progress, review history, and spaced repetition state
  • Study statistics, such as session progress and review counts
  • App preferences, such as speech settings, appearance settings, notification settings, and study options
  • Purchase unlock status for paid JLPT levels
  • Legacy purchase or migration status, when applicable on Mac

This information is used to provide the app's learning features, remember your settings, and keep track of your vocabulary progress.

iCloud Sync

JLPT Vocabulary Trainer supports iCloud sync through Apple's CloudKit service. When iCloud sync is enabled and available, your study progress and related app data may be stored in your private iCloud account so it can sync across your Apple devices.

iCloud data is handled by Apple under Apple's privacy and iCloud terms. The developer does not operate a separate server for this sync data and does not use it for advertising or tracking.

You can control iCloud availability through your device's iCloud settings. If you disable iCloud for the app or sign out of iCloud, sync may stop and data may remain only on your device.

Purchases

JLPT Vocabulary Trainer may offer in-app purchases to unlock additional JLPT levels. Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store using StoreKit.

The app receives purchase status information needed to unlock content, such as which product was purchased. We do not receive or store your full payment card number or App Store account password. Payment and billing information is handled by Apple.

On Mac, the app may check for an existing App Store receipt or previous local app data to determine whether you are a legacy user. This check is used only to decide whether to unlock content for eligible legacy users.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, JLPT Vocabulary Trainer may schedule local study reminders on your device. Notification permission is optional and can be changed at any time in your device settings.

Study reminders are scheduled locally through Apple's notification system. The app does not need to send your study reminder schedule to a developer-operated server.

Analytics, Ads, and Tracking

JLPT Vocabulary Trainer does not use third-party advertising trackers and does not sell your data.

The app does not currently use a third-party analytics service. If optional analytics or crash reporting is added in the future, this policy will be updated to describe what is collected and what choices are available.

Apple may provide developers with App Store analytics, purchase reports, crash logs, and diagnostic information under Apple's developer programs. This information is provided by Apple and is generally aggregated or limited to diagnostic details needed to maintain and improve the app.

Data Sharing

We do not share your personal study data with advertisers or data brokers.

Data may be processed by Apple when you use Apple platform features such as iCloud, App Store purchases, notifications, crash reporting, or App Store analytics. Apple's handling of that data is governed by Apple's privacy policy and applicable Apple terms.

We may disclose information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, or to respond to valid legal requests.

Data Retention

Study data and preferences are kept on your device for as long as you keep the app installed, unless you reset or delete that data.

If iCloud sync is used, synced data may remain in your iCloud account according to your iCloud settings and Apple's retention practices. Deleting the app may remove local data from the device, but it may not automatically delete data stored in iCloud.

Purchase records are maintained by Apple as part of your App Store purchase history. The app may keep local unlock status so purchased content remains available.

Your Choices

You can control your data in several ways:

  • Change app preferences inside JLPT Vocabulary Trainer
  • Disable notifications in your device settings
  • Manage iCloud for the app in your Apple ID or iCloud settings
  • Delete the app to remove local app data from the device
  • Manage App Store purchases and subscriptions through your Apple ID settings
  • Contact us with privacy questions or data requests

Children’s Privacy

JLPT Vocabulary Trainer is intended for general audiences learning Japanese vocabulary. The app is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, contact us so we can review the request.

International Users

If you use the app outside your country of residence, your data may be processed where Apple or its service providers operate, especially when using iCloud or App Store services. Apple provides more information about its privacy practices at https://www.apple.com/privacy/.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the app changes or when legal, technical, or business requirements change. The updated version will be posted with a new "Last updated" date.
