Azerbaijani

My main focus right now is Azerbaijani.

I’ve gone back to Flowers for Algernon in Azerbaijani, this time reading it in [Ember]. I also watch Azerbaijani films on tvseans.az now and then, and review flashcards in [Vocabilis].

I want to get back to more structured study, too. I worked with a tutor for about a year and a half, and after we stopped, a really good self-study book came out. I bought it, looked through it, but haven’t properly worked through it yet.

Longer term, I want to get my Azerbaijani vocabulary to roughly C1 level — around 10,000 words. I’m at maybe 5,000 now, so I need to double it.

English with my daughter

I’m also reading with my daughter as she learns English. We’re almost through the second Oz book in an A1 adaptation we put together using ChatGPT.

French

I want to bring my French back through reading. I studied French at university, but I’ve barely used it in almost thirty years.

A few months ago I read Recursion in French. Project Hail Mary is next.

Japanese

I’d like to pick Japanese back up too, though I’m not sure I’ll realistically have the time.
